The Cape Town event has been changed to an all day street party in the Gay Village in Green Point. The map of this event is available under the Mardi Gras event page.

The Johannesburg event has been changed to start and end at the Helpmekaar Private School in Parktown. There is ample safe and secure parking this year as well as a large Beer Tent with many food stalls and some flea market-type stalls set up around the Beer tent, which will add to the hype of the start of the day. A refreshment stand will be available at the Civic Center.

There are to be a number of competitions to be held during PRIDE 2000. They are:

• The FACE of PRIDE 2000
• The BEST-DRESSED Couple
• The BEST COSTUME and The MOST OUTRAGEOUS COSTUME
• The BEST-DRESSED BRIDAL Couple

Entries will be judged on the day - so there is NO formal entry form/process. Judging will take place, as set out on the programme at the PARADE Venue. Some grand prizes will be on offer!

The BEST FLOAT competition is different. Entries are to be made in advance and close at 12 noon on Friday, the 13th of October 2000 for the Johannesburg Event and on Friday, the 20th of October 2000 for the Cape Town Event. Please submit the following details:

1. The Name of Your Float (Club/Group/Organisation's Name).
2. Define: Are you a Club, Group, Business or Private Entry?
3. Name of entity above in full detail, including your street and postal address, contact numbers and, if any, email address or URL.
4. Brief description of the appearance/nature of your Float.

We are hoping to set up a special Float-Building Area on the previous Friday Night at WITS University. Full details will be supplied to you when you make your entry. There is NO cost to enter, we would rather ensure that you spend money on constructing your float. There are some grand prizes for the best float.
